Islamabad police killed a highly wanted criminal after a shootout with a gang on the outskirts of the city.
Members of the ‘Klashinkov gang’ opened fire on the police during a search operation in Pindori Syedan in the jurisdiction of the Kirpa Police Station on Monday.
Police responded with heavy fire of its own, and killed and injured multiple members of the gang. The exchange of fire happened near sehri time.
The firing killed Ahmad Shah, a proclaimed offender and absconder wanted in multiple cases of murder and dacoity.
However, other members of the gang retreated to hills near Kahuta. Police is currently engaged in a search operation in Dangor village in Kahuta.
The gang consists of multiple absconders and highly wanted criminals who hid among the hills between Islamabad and Rawalpindi.
The shootout comes amid rising reports of street crime in the capital. The police has advised citizens to inform police before leaving the city.
