PCB buys high-rise building near Qaddafi Stadium for players’ accomodation

The Pakistan Cricket Board has purchased a high-rise building close to the Qaddafi Stadium in Lahore in order to make accomodation for players more convenient.

According to sources, PCB paid Rs4 billion for the building which is still under construction.

The building was originally planned to be a residential tower but will now be turned into a seven-star hotel.

Sources said that extensive construction work would be needed to turn the building into a hotel.

PCB hopes that accomodating teams in the hotel will allow a more streamlined and safer process for the teams to travel to the stadium for traffic and games.

International teams usually stay in five-star hotels in other parts of the city and security cordons have to be set up to facilitate their travel. The new hotel is aimed at solving both problems.

The transaction orignated when PCB objected to a building being built close to the stadium due to security purposes.

The building’s owner engaged in a legal dispute with the PCB as he had alread received deposits for the apartments in the building. Meanwhile, the construction in the building was put on hold. However, the transaction has lead to a settlement satisfying both parties.
