Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif met with Chief Justice of Pakistan (CJP) Justice Faez Isa over the issue of a letter sent by six judges of the Islamabad High Court to the CJP, accusing the country’s intelligence agencies of ‘meddling’ in the judicial affairs.
PM Shehbaz arrived at the CJP’s chamber at the Supreme Court of Pakistan shortly after noon. The meeting lasted for one hour and 20 minutes.
Law Minister Nazir Tarar and the attorney general of Pakistan were also present at the meeting.
Aaj News reported that puisne Supreme Court Judge Justice Mansoor Ali Shah also participated in the meeting.
The meeting was announced on Wednesday after a full court meeting of Supreme Court judges discussed the letter sent by IHC judges but failed to produce a joint statement.
Sources told Aaj News that the full court discussed taking the matter to the next level by sending it to either a full court bench or the Supreme Judicial Council.
