The Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) has decided to field Sanam Javed as its candidate for women seat in the upcoming Senate election, party leader Mian Aslam Iqbal said on Saturday.
The party’s candidates for general seats would be Zulfi Bokhari, Hamid Khan, Umer Sarfraz and Ejaz Minhas while Dr Yasmeen Rashid will be the PTI candidate for the seat of technocrats, he added.
It is pertinent to mention that Sanam Javed announced to drop out of the race for election 2024 after she was re-arrested in Lahore.
She was planning to contest elections from NA-119 in Lahore, the same constituency from where PMLN’s Maryam Nawaz contested the polls.
However, Javed’s sister, Falak, said in a video on January 29 that they were putting their weight behind Shehzad Farooq in the elections. She added that Farooq’s campaign should be run as Sanam’s own.
