A 13-year-old girl allegedly died by suicide in Pattoki after facing a dire work circumstances and violence from family members.
Police said that the body of Tayyaba, 13, was found hanging from a tree in her house in Naroki, a small distance from Pattoki city.
According to the police, the girl worked as a househelp but did not want to continue work.
However, the girl’s mother allegedly forced her work and beat her up when she refused. Disgruntled, Tayyaba refused to go to work for two days.
Police said that Tayyaba had informed her brother of her intention to attempt suicide.
Finding herself alone at home, she took advantage of the opportunity and reportedly used her own scarf as a noose and hung herself from a tree.
Police added that the girl’s father had married a second time, leaving Tayyaba, her brother and mother to fend for themselvels by doing menial work.
