The Election Commission of Pakistan restored a notification declaring Awn Chaudhry the winner of NA-128 on Thursday.
The notification had been suspended after Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf-backed candidate Salman Akram Raja had filed a complaint regarding inaccurate results.
Raja had maintained that the Returning Officer had issued the provisional result on Form-47 which was very different from the result made by tallying Forms-45 from each polling station.
He had claimed that he had been leading by 82,000 votes but was declared loser by 13,000 instead.
The Commission had suspended the notification and sought a reply from the RO from NA-128. The decision in the case had been reserved later.
Announcing the reserved verdict, ECP restored the the notification of Chaudhry’s victory. Raja has been told he can approach the election tribunal.
