Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) leader Barrister Gohar Khan on Tuesday demanded Chief Election Commissioner Sikandar Sultan Raja to step down from the post saying that he failed to stop “election rigging”.
“In light of [Imran] Khan sahib’s directives, PTI demands him [CEC Raja] to step down immediately,” he told journalists outside the Adiala jail where he met a meeting with the PTI founder.
Amid election rigging claims, Barrister Khan demanded ECP to issue election results according to Form 45 instead of Form 47.
Highlighting Rawapindi’s former commissioner’s revelations, the PTI leader questioned the credibility and the transparency of the elections.
Barrister Khan warned that election results could impact the country’s agreement with the International Monetary Fund.
According to him, the PTI newly-elected MNAs will join the Sunni Ittehad Council (SIC), saying that the party has sent a list of 50 members to the ECP that will join the SIC.
The PTI leader went on to add that the party also has an alliance with the Majlis Wahdat-e-Muslimeen (WMW) which will sit with the PTI in the centre.
