PMLN refutes news of CM protocol being awarded to Maryam

Pakistan Muslim League Nawaz has refuted the news of chief minister-level protocol being given to Maryam Nawaz.

In a post on X on Sunday, party spokesperson Marriyum Aurangzeb said the news of the extra security being provided was false.

A news report in Dawn had claimed that ‘two bulletproof cars, four police squad vehicles, a traffic wardens’ pilot, and one signal jammer vehicle’ have been assigned to Maryam and the whole squad has already reached her residence.

Earlier reports have also claimed that Maryam has received breifings from the province’s chief secretary and inspector general.

While Nawaz Sharif himself has reportedly backed out of the race for prime minister in favour of his younger brother, Shehbaz, his daughter will be the party’s candidate for the post of Punjab’s CM.

The post has been held by both Nawaz and Shehbaz in the past.

The PMLN has gained 138 seats in the Punjab assembly and its numbers have been bolstered by the addition of multiple independently-elected candidates as well.
