PPP leader Faisal Karim Kundi has alleged that JUI leader Fazlur Rehman benefited the most from the no-confidence motion against former prime minister Imran Khan.
In a press conference on Friday, he said that Fazl was the head of the Pakistan Democratic Movement at the time and could have stopped the no-confidence move.
His reaction came after a delegation of PTI called on the JUI chief and footage of the meeting showed Fazl embracing the leaders.
The development shocked many as the two parties were the old nemesis. They reached an agreement that elections were “rigged”.
Kundi said that Fazl had alleged that his party’s mandate was stolen. “If it was stolen, then who was it given to? To the same delegation who visited him yesterday.”
While talking about Fazl’s comments on the alleged involvement of ex-spymaster Lt Gen Faiz Hameed in the no-confidence move against Imran Khan, Kundi said that the former army official was posted at the Peshawar Corps Commander at the time.
He described the meeting as a “political change”.
Kundi added that the political agreement between the two parties was “good” but lamented that past comments were run on TV channels when the PPP and the PML-N made any alliance.
He urged the Pakistan Electronic Media Regulatory Authority to lift the ban on Imran Khan in order to show the old comments of the former prime minister about his rivals, especially Maulana Fazlur Rehman.
Kundi also announced that the party would field its own candidates for president, National Assembly speaker and Senate chairman. Moreover, PPP Chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari would soon announce candidates for the position of chief minister in Balochistan and Sindh.
