Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) Chief Organiser Maryam Nawaz has said that former prime minister Nawaz Sharif will actively participate in politics despite opting against taking a government position.
“If it is being deduced that Nawaz Sharif is leaving politics by not accepting the post of prime minister, then there is no truth in it,” she said in a post on X on Wednesday.
According to Maryam, the PML-N supremo will vigorously participate in politics and will patronise the governments in the center and Punjab.
“In the three governments of Nawaz Sharif, the people gave him a clear majority and he has made it clear in his election speeches that he will not be a part of any coalition government,” she said.
She went on to add that Shahbaz Sharif will be bound by his elder brother’s order and will work under his leadership and supervision.
A day earlier, Sharif nominated his younger brother Shehbaz Sharif for prime minister slot as PMLN supporters expressed a host of strong emotions ranging from sorrow and shame to outright dejection on social media.
Sharif’s decision to nominate Shehbaz Sharif for the top position was communicated to the nation by party spokesperson Marriyum Aurangzeb in a post on X.
