Quetta Gladiators on Tuesday removed Sarfaraz Ahmed from captaincy after eight years ahead of the ninth edition of the Pakistan Super League.
South African batter Rilee Rossouw will now lead the 2019 champions in the upcoming tournament.
It is pertinent to mention that Ahmed had been the Gladiators’ captain since the inaugural edition of the PSL.
During his captaincy, Gladiators finished runners-up in the 2016 and 2017 editions of the PSL and lifted the trophy in 2019.
The ninth edition of the PSL is set to begin on February 17 at PCB’s headquarters in Lahore.
Earlier today, the trophy of the PSL 9 was unveiled at Lahore Polo Ground.
The trophy, “The Orion Trophy”, will be a source of motivation for all the teams participating in the tournament, according to a statement by the Pakistan Cricket Board.
