Imran, Qureshi summoned for indictment in May 9 case on Tuesday

An anti-terrorism court in Islamabad summoned Imran Khan and Shah Mahmood Qureshi in a case related to May 9’s violent protests on Tuesday. Hundreds of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf workers have also been summoned in the case.

In a hearing on January 25, the court had fixed Tuesday for indictment of Khan and Qureshi in the case.

ATC Judge Malik Aijaz Asif had heard the case, in January where the idate of indictment had been fixed, inside the Adiala Jail compound.

Imran Khan is facing nine cases related to the May 9 protests while Shah Mahmood Qureshi is facing six. Both have already been sentenced to 10 years in jail in the cipher case.

Protests had broken out across Pakistan on may 9 last year after Imran Khan was arrested by Rangers in the Toshakhana case from Islamabad High Court.

The protests had turned violent in many places and had led to attacks on the General Headquarters as well as teh Corps Commander House in Lahore.
