Denmark plans to tighten permanent residence permit, family reunification rules

Denmark is planning to tighten rules to make it harder for foreigners to secure a permanent residence permit and reunite with their spouses living in a foreign country, SchengenVisaInfo reported on Monday.

In this regard, the Danish ministry of immigration and integration has moved a proposal, however, the proposed rules have not been revealed that will make it difficult for foreigners to apply for permanent residence and family reunification of spouses.

The drafted proposal also contains revised requirements to obtain a permanent residence permit and family reunification.

Additionally, individuals convicted of certain crimes might not be eligible for a permanent residence permit.
