Fact Check: Did Sarfaraz Ahmed leave Pakistan for good?

Pakistan cricket fans were shocked when reports emerged on Saturday that the former captain of the national cricket team Sarfaraz Ahmed has left Pakistan following his sacking from the team.

Several media outlets claimed that Ahmed was disheartened and hopeless about his future in the national team and had decided to leave Pakistan.

They went on to say that the Champions Trophy 2017 winning captain has moved to London in the United Kingdom, with his wife and two children.

They said that Ahmed will participate in the Pakistan Super League (PSL) Season 9 matches and represent Quetta Gladiators.

However, he denied the rumours regarding his resettlement to the UK in a talk with Samaa Digital and blasted the media outlets for reporting the news without confirming facts.

According to Samaa Digital, the former captain was in disbelief and dismayed over the news, asserting that such reports were entirely baseless.

“I can’t even think of leaving Pakistan. Confirm before running such fabricated news,” Ahmed emphasised during the interview.

It is pertinent to mention that Ahmed is the first Pakistan captain since the legendary Imran Khan to win a 50-over world title when he guided the Greenshirts to the CT 2017 win.

He also led Pakistan’s Under-19 team to the World Cup title in 2006.
