Another Supreme Court judge will resign, claim journalists

Many experts in the journalist and legal fraternities have claimed that one more Supreme Court judge would resign after Justice Mazahar Ali Akbar Naqvi and Justice Ijazul Ahsan did the same.

Some segments of the legal fraternity consider Justice Ahsan, Justice Naqvi, and Justice Munib Akhtar as “like-minded judges” who have been close to former chief justice of Pakistan Umar Atta Bandial.

Many journalists posted on X that another resignation was coming.

“Yet another resignation could come……………..wait for it,” Zahid Gishkori said.

Legal expert Waqas Abraiz also spoke about similar speculations while appearing on Aaj News live transmission.

Abraiz was on the channel to give his opinion on the developments in the Supreme Court after Justice Ahsan resigned as the SC judge. He was of the view that there were two aspects of the development.

“Now it is being estimated that there is one more judge, we wouldn’t like to take his name, and would also resign in the near future if things would continue to be in the same way.”

He added that the two judges who stepped down and another judge used to fully assist the former CJP Umer Ata Bandial.

According to Abraiz, the ex-CJP used to consider them among his favourites. He claimed that the benches comprising such judges gave judgements against a political party. “He [third judge] would have render sacrifice if things go in the same way,” he said.

“Gesture is enough to the wise man,” he said while reiterating the speculations related to an old judge.
