Supreme Court judges, spouses exempted from body search at airports

The Ministry of Aviation has exempted spouses of serving judges and the chief justice of the Supreme Court of Pakistan from body search at all airports of the country, a notification said.

“Secretary Aviation has been pleased to exempt spouses of serving judges and Chief Justice of Supreme Court of Pakistan from body search at all airports,” the October 12 notification issued by the ministry added.

The directions came for the Airport Security Force on the directive of the Supreme Court.

It is pertinent to mention that the plan to install e-gates at three major airports in Pakistan has been experiencing delays for three years despite the introduction of the e-passport facility across the country, sources said a day earlier.

The proposed plan, essential to fast-track the immigrant process, witnessed delays due to a lack of decision-making from the Civil Aviation Authority, they added.

Karachi, Lahore, and Islamabad airports were set to get e-gates for immigration similar to the airports in most of the developed countries.
