Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) and the Istehkam-e-Pakistan Party (IPP) have agreed on seat adjustment in the upcoming general elections, sources said.
The agreement came during a meeting between PML-N President Shehbaz Sharif and IPP Patron-in-Chief Jahangir Khan Tareen at Sharif’s residence in Lahore’s Model Town a day earlier, they added.
The top leadership of both parties will have a final say on the matter after discussing the matter with their parties’ central executive committee.
IPP leader Awn Chaudhry and PML-N’s Rana Sanaullah and Ayaz Sadiq were also present during the meeting.
Sources said that seat adjustment was likely in the constituencies of Lahore, Sahiwal, Lodhran, and Rahim Yar Khan among others. However, the parties have sought more time to further discuss the number of seats for possible seat adjustment.
The IPP has attracted some major political names who were previously affiliated with the PTI.
On the other hand, the PMLN is continuing to reach out to political parties to form electoral alliances. Agreements have already been reached with Muttahida Qaumi Movement and Jamiat-e-Ulema Islam.
