Body found in tiger’s den in Bahawalpur zoo

Workers at the Bahawalpur Zoo found the body of a man in the tigers’ den on Wednesday. An initial investigation report has bee prepared and a committee has been set up to investigate the incident in detail.

Media reports has said that members of the zoo administration had arrived to feed the tigers in the morning when they discovered the man’s body in the tiger’s cage. However, the initial investigation report said that the body was discovered by a sweeper who arrived to clean the closure.

It is still not clear immediately how the man or his body ended up in the zoo. However, zoo authorities believe it indecent occurred overnight.

The report added that the man could possibly be a drug addict and no identification documents were found with the body.

The committee formed to investigate the incident include the deputy commissioner, head of forensics, conservator of forests, and the rescue official incharge of the crime scene.

At least four tigers live in the enclosure where the body was found.

CM Takes Notice

Caretaker Punjab Chief Minister Mohsin Naqvi has taken notice of the incident and sought a report from Commissioner Bahawalpur.

Mohsin Naqvi ordered to identify those responsible for negligence and submit a report.

He said that along with conducting security audit of zoos, all possible measures should be taken for the safety of zoo visitors.
