Men who looted money changer in Quetta turn out to be policemen

At least two policemen were found to be involved in a robbery in a money exchange in Quetta on Thursday.

According to police, four armed men entered a money exchange on Quetta’s Sharah-e-Iqbal on Thursday and told the men behind the counter that they were Federal Investigation Agency Officials.

They demanded money from the shopkeepers and threatened them with dire consequence if they did not comply.

As the men made off with Rs1.8 million in cash, the shopkeepers managed to get a hold of one of them as the other managed to escape.

The man in the shopkeeper’s custody then revealed that he was an on-duty police official posted at the Khaliq Shaheed police station. The policeman revealed that another one of his accomplices was also a police official while the other two were civilians.

SSP Operations Tariq Minhas confirmed tp Aaj News that policemen were involved in the robbery and that the man the shopkeepers had managed to catch had been beaten up and handed over to the police.

He also confirmed that the police were searching for the three other men involved in the robbery. The SSP added that there was no room for corrupt elements in the police.
