Earlier in the day, newly appointed Chief Selector Wahab Riaz announced the 18-member Test squad for Australia. Former captain Sarfaraz Ahmed made a comeback into the national team.

The tour, which is scheduled from December 14, 2023, to January 7, 2024, would see new faces Saim Ayub and Khurram Shahzad in action.

The side would be led by left-handed batter Shan Masood.
