India’s Sahara group founder Subrata Shree passed away at 75

Founder of India’s Sahara Group Subrata Shree passed away in Mumbai on Tuesday at the age of 75. Shree had spent a considerable amount of time receiving care at a nearby private hospital.

The passing of Subrata Roy, the renowned businessman famously known as Sahara Shree, has cast a spotlight on both his influential legacy and the controversies that marked his life.

On Wednesday, Sahara Group Chairman Roy’s mortal remains will be transported to Lucknow, Uttar Pradesh, for his final ceremonies.

As per the official statement from the company, he succumbed to cardiorespiratory arrest at 10.30 pm after a prolonged struggle with complications stemming from metastatic cancer, hypertension, and diabetes.

After his health began to deteriorate, he was admitted to Kokilaben Dhirubhai Ambani Hospital & Medical Research Institute (KDAH) on Sunday.

Subrata Roy’s legacy encapsulates both opulence and complexity, leaving behind a trail of triumphs, controversies, and strategic decisions that have shaped not only his life but also raised intriguing questions about business, legality, and the pursuit of a global identity.
