Two soldiers were martyred in an exchange of fire with terrorists in the Mir Ali area of North Waziristan in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa on Monday, the Inter-Services Public Relations said.
The martyred soldiers were identified as Sepoy Abdullah, 25, a resident of KP’s Mardan, and Sepoy Muhammad Sohail, 19, a resident of Tharparkar in Sindh.
In a statement, the military’s media wing said that one terrorist was killed in the gun battle.
Sanitisation of the surrounding areas was being carried out to neutralise any terrorists found in the area, the ISPR added.
“Security forces of Pakistan are determined to eliminate the menace of terrorism and such sacrifices of our brave soldiers further strengthen our resolve.”
Pakistan has been dealing with an increase in militant activities in the country after the outlawed group TTP ended the ceasefire agreement and the Afghan Taliban came to power in Afghanistan.
Last week, four soldiers including a lieutenant colonel of the Pakistan Army were martyred in an exchange of fire with terrorists during an intelligence-based operation in the Tirah area of the Khyber district in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa on Monday.
Caretaker Prime Minister Anwaarul Haq Kakar had vowed to continue the war against terrorism until the complete eradication of terrorism from the country.
The evil designs of the enemies of peace would never be allowed to succeed, he had added.
Former president of Pakistan Asif Ali Zardari had termed it necessary to conduct an action similar to that of the Swat operation to end terrorism in the country.
