PTI Chairman Imran Khan was moved to Adiala Jail from Attock, following the Islamabad High Court orders on Monday, his lawyer said. But the jail authorities refuted such reports.
“Yes, it has been found out that Imran Khan has been shifted from Attock to Adiala Jail,” Naeem Haider Panjutha said in a post on X, formerly known as Twitter.
“But it is incomprehensible as he spoke with people in Attock Jail and they are still saying that Khan Sahib is with them.”
But the jail authorities refuted reports of moving Khan to the Adiala Jail. “The PTI chairman has so far been not shifted to Adial Jail,” the Attock Jail administration said in a statement.
In reaction to such reports, one of the PTI chief’s lawyers deleted his post in which he made the claims.
Earlier in the day, Islamabad High Court Chief Justice Aamer Farooq said that the PTI chief should be brought to Adiala Jail from Attock as the cases against him were being heard in Islamabad.
The chief justice made the remarks as Attorney General for Pakistan Mansoor Awan presented his arguments in a case filed by the former prime minister. Khan had asked the court to improve the facilities being provided to him in jail in the petition.
Justice Farooq remarked that Islamabad’s under-trial prisoners were usually kept in Adiala Jail.
He asked the attorney general if the case hearing would be shifted once again if Khan was shifted to Rahim Yar Khan later.
When the attorney general said that keeping Khan in Attock was part of the order in the cipher case, the judge replied that the order had been made after the former prime minister had already been incarcerated.
Meanwhile, the law ministry issued the NOC for the hearing of the cipher case in Attock Jail. The case would be heard against Khan would be heard on Tuesday (tomorrow) in Attock Jail.
Special court judge Abul Hasnat Zulqarnain would preside over the case.
