The security forces have killed at least eight terrorists in different operations in two districts of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, the military’s media wing said on Thursday.
The Inter-Services Public Relations, in a statement, said that five terrorists were also arrested. The intelligence based operations were conducted in Bannu and North Waziristan districts.
Pakistan’s anti-terror operations are under way as the country fights recent surge in terrorist activities.
Six terrorists were killed in an exchange of fire with security forces during the first operation in Jani Khel area of Bannu, the state-run broadcaster said. Moreover, five terrorists were apprehended.
“These terrorists were involved in numerous terrorist activities against security forces, including facilitation of motorcycle borne suicide attack on a military convoy at Jani Khel on August 31, in which nine army men were martyred,” it said.

In another operation in Datta Khel area of North Waziristan, two terrorists were killed in a gun battle with security forces.
Weapons and ammunition were also recovered from the site, the ISPR said and added that sanitisation of the surrounding areas was being carried out to neutralise any other terrorist found in the area.
“Locals of the area appreciated the operation. Security forces of Pakistan remain determined to eliminate the menace of terrorism,” it said.
On September 14, at least three terrorists were killed in an exchange of fire with security forces near Wali Tangi in Quetta. Subedar Qaiser Raheem was martyred in the line of duty whereas one soldier was injured.
