Shah Mahmood says he is being kept next to death chamber

Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf Vice Chairman Shah mahmood Qureshi told reporters on Wednesday that he is being kept to a death chamber in jail.

Qureshi added that if he had committed treason, he was ready to accept the death sentence. He added that he was innocent and was a political prisoner.

The veteran politican was brought to the Judicial Complex in Islamabad in handcuffs as his remand in the Cipher Case ended. However, he was told that Judge Abu Alhasnaat Zulqurnain was in Attock Jail for Imran Khan’s hearing in the case.

The court staff then told Qureshi that his remand had been extended for another 14 days till September 26.

He told reporters that there was no ambiguity over the fact that Imran Khan remained the chairman of the PTI.

Qureshi said that the country is facing constitutional, economic and political crisis and the only way out of the curren impasse are fresh elections. He added that everyone would have to rise above their egos for the sake of the country.

Imran Khan and Shah Mahmood Qureshi are being held under the Official Secrets Act for allegedly leaking a cipher that was classified as confidential. Khan’s remand was also extended by 14 days on Wednesday.
