Islamabad receives heavy rains with strong winds

Heavy rains and strong winds lashed the capital city of Islamabad and surrounding areas on Tuesday as the roads and streets were inundated with rainwater.

The managing director of the Water and Sanitation Agency said that all the departments have been alerted in case of emergency as strong winds were blowing at a speed of 120 kilometres per hour in parts of the city.

A spokesperson for the Islamabad Electric Supply Company said that around 177 feeders were tripped due to heavy rains and high-speed winds which which also brought down billboards and trees.

The wind speed was recorded at 100 kilometres per hour in the city of Islamabad and 120 km/hour in Bani Gala.

The Pakistan Meteorological Department has forecasted rains with strong winds in the capital city, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and in parts of Punjab, Azad Kashmir and Gilgit Baltistan.
