Ali Mardan Domki takes oath as Balochistan interim chief minister

Balochistan Governor Malik Abdul Wali Khan Kakar administered oath to caretaker chief minister Ali Mardan Khan Domki on Friday.

Paind Khan Kharoti and Malik Kakar had given the approval for Domki’s appointment on the recommendation of the parliamentary committee which forwarded the name to him last night, according to the Public Relations Officer to the governor.

Earlier, Aaj News reported that a parliamentary committee had nominated Ali Mardan Domki as the caretaker chief minister of Balochistan.

The name was decided in a meeting on Thursday night. Domki was among four names considered for the key slot, they said and added that Balochistan Assembly Speaker Mir Jan Mohammad Khan Jamali has been informed about the committee’s decision.

The matter of choosing a candidate for the slot of interim chief minister was referred to a parliamentary committee of the Balochistan Assembly after outgoing chief minister Mir Abdul Qudoos and opposition leader Malik Sikander Khan failed to reach a consensus on a name.

Reportedly Domki’s name was suggested by former CM Jam Kamal and Malik Sikander after a meeting with interim PM Anwaarul Haq Kakar.

Domki, who belongs to the Lehri area of Balochistan, has previously served as a minister of state and Tehsil Nazim of Sibi, according to media reports. He has an undisputed tribal and political status.
