A minor daughter of a Pakistan-origin father and Polish mother has been killed in United Kingdom’s Surrey, according to British media.
The victim was identified as Sara Sharif, 10. Her body was found at a property in Woking, Surrey in the early hours of August 10 after a concern for welfare, The Sun reported. The minor girl was identified on Monday.
The Surrey Police started a murder investigation after the discovery of the body. The three suspects they wanted to speak to in connection with the murder have fled the country.
Media reports named the father of the victim as Malik Urfan Sharif, 41, who works as a taxi driver.
“I just can’t believe it - he is such a friendly guy who adores his kids,” one of the neighbours told MailOnline. “He’s been living in the UK for years and is originally from Pakistan. He works as a taxi driver with a hackney plate outside Woking station.”
An investigation was under way into the murder, according to Detective Chief Inspector Debbie White.
“We have identified three people we would like to speak to in connection with our investigation and from our enquiries we believe that they left the country on Wednesday. We are working with our partners, including international authorities, to locate them,” he said.
One of the neighbour Amjad Ali “couldn’t believe” what happened. He told MailOnline that everyone in the area was “shocked” by the girl’s death after the family moved in just five months ago.
“They are a Pakistani family that moved in about five months ago. I don’t know where from, but the husband works as a taxi driver, and they have three or four kids.”
Tributes have poured in for the minor.
