Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf leader Pervaiz Elahi was rearrested immediately after his release on Monday.
Elahi was released from Adiala Jail after his detention under MPO ended on Monday. However, he was immediately taken into custody by NAB Rawalpindi.
He was then presented in a Rawalpindi court, where Duty Judge Khalid Hayat granted one day’s transit remand for Elahi to be shifted to Lahore. The court allowed Elahi to sign the power of attorney from his vehicle instead of coming up to the court due to his age.
Follwing the remand, Elahi was shifted to NAB Lahore. He will be presented in court tomorrow where NAB will request a remand for interrogation.
The former chief minister is accused of corruption worth Rs1.25 billion in development projects in Gujrat and Mandi Bahauddin.
Elahi has already filed a petition for his release in the Supreme Court. The petition will be taken up by a three-member bench under Justice Ejaz ul Ahsan on August 16.
