Chief Minister of Sindh Minister Murad Ali Shah and Leader of the Opposition in the dissolved provincial assembly Rana Ansar have not officially exchanged names for the caretaker chief minister as the second round of talks ended on Sunday, sources said.
However, both leaders consulted over several names for the post of interim CM in the Sindh assembly, they added.
During the meeting, Sindh’s CM told the opposition leader that he will propose names after holding a discussion with the party leadership.
Meanwhile, the name of Justice (retd) Maqbool Baqir is reported to have been finalised for the interim chief minister.
Sindh Assembly was dissolved on August 11, after Governor Kamran Tessori signed the summary sent by Shah seeking the dissolution of the provincial assembly.
“The summary of dissolution of Sindh Provincial Assembly has been signed,” the governor said in a post on the X, previously known as Twitter.
Similarly, President Arif Alvi approved the summary for dissolving the National Assembly at midnight on August 9 at outgoing Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif’s advice, marking an end to the current government’s tenure.
