A police team arrested a police constable and his accomplice for allegedly stealing 40 motorcycles in Lahore on Thursday.
“Suspects police constable Muhammad Ilyas and scrap dealer Muhammad Akram have committed crimes under the law by stealing 40 bikes from outside the police station,” said a first information report registered at the Harbanspura Police Station. It added that the bikes were worth around Rs1 million.
The complaint invoked sections 381 A (theft of a car or other motor vehicles) and 411 (dishonestly receiving stolen property) of the Pakistan Penal Code.
The two-wheeled vehicles were stolen from outside a police station in the city’s Defence C area where they were parked after being recovered from criminals.
The police took action after they got a tip-off that numerous bikes were hidden in a warehouse near Harbanspura Morr. They were of the view that bikes were stolen.
The bikes were hidden at the back side of the warehouse, according to the complaint.
