The ruling alliance has narrowed down its search for caretaker prime miniter to five names and has decided to leave the final choice to the party heads.
Sources said that out of the five names, one each belongs to Sindh, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and Balochistan while two are from Punjab.
Reports have also indicated that only one out of the five people is a politican and none of the names are a judge, politician or general.
The two major parties in the government alliance, the PPP and PML-N, have agreed that a non-partisan person should be made caretaker prime minister.
However, the negotiating committees have decided that the final decision will be left to Shehbaz Sharif, Bilawal Bhutto Zardari and Maulana Fazal ur Rehman.
The five names that have been shortlisted are now being shared with the other parties in the government alliance.
