Floods wreak havoc in Balochistan as more rains expected

Breaches in multiple small dams in Balochistan have flooded dozens of settlements, leading to destruction and evacuations.

Dozens of houses were inundated in Lasbela, Kharan, Panjgur and Harnoi after floods. People are being evacuated to safety from low lying settlements.

Temporary dykes are being prepared to stem the flow of water in Saroti, Kali Andarabad, and kali Mirza o Lal Khan.

A car that was swept away in floods in Makhmar has been rescued along with the passengers.

Warnings have been issued to people in low lying areas to move to safer areas.

More rains expected

The Meterological Office has predicted that Balochistan, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and Punjab could receive torrential rains in the coming days.

The ongoing round of monsoon rains is expected to last till July 31. The rains could lead to flash flooding and land sliding as well.

The weather is expected to remain cloudy in Islamabad on Friday. Dir, Chitral , Swat and Shangla could receive rainfall later in the day.

Mansehra and Haripur could expect thunderstorms. The weather is expected to remain cloudy with scattered rainfall in Malakand, Peshawar, Mardan, Swabi as well as Azad Kashmir and Gilgit Baltistan.

In Balochistan, rains could make an appearance in Zhob, Sherani, Qila Saifullah and Barkhan.

However, the weather is expected to stay hot and humid in most parts of Sindh. However, Sukkur, Jacobabad, Larkana and Shaheed Benazirabad could receive some rain.
