Cellular networks in multiple parts of Karachi faced disruption on Sunday leading to difficulties for the citizenry.

Pakistan Telelcommunication Authority said that the networks would be suspended in different parts of the city till 10th of Muharram, which falls on July 29.

Networks were down in Steel Town, Gulsn-e-Hadid, Jaffar Tayyar society, Malir 15, Future Colony, Daud Chowrangi, Bin Qasim and Zakaria Goth.

Sources said that the decision to suspend mobile networks in the city was based on security reasons.

After rains in Karachi, many areas are already deprived of electricity and the network shutdowns have added to their woes.
