Imran Khan gets another day’s respite in Toshakhana case

Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf Chairman Imran Khan was granted a one-day exemption from appearing in the Toshakhana case on Friday.

Additional Session Judge Humayun Dilawar presided over proceedings in the case on Friday which was recently sent back to the trial court by the Islamabad High Court.

Barrister Gohar appeared for Imran Khan while Amjad Pervez appeared on behalf of the Election Commission of Pakistan, who is the petitioner in the case.

The court accepted Imran Khan’s request to be exempted from in-person appearance in the case and adjourned the case till July 8.

Meanwhile, Imran Khan has also filed a petition in the Supreme Court asking for a retrial of the Toshakhana case in the trial court to be stopped.

The petition in the Supreme Court has been approved but no date has been placed for its hearing.

Imran Khan has argued that the case was wrongly sent back to the same trial court which had illegally indicted him in the first place.
