A large contingent of police entered the Gilgit Baltistan Assembly on Wednesday ahead of the scheduled election for the region’s new chief minister.
The police closed off the building and turned out all employees of the assembly secretariat as well as media representatives.
Media reports said that former ministers belonging to the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf could be arrested.
On the other hand, the Chief Court also issued a stay order against the election of the new chief minister and suspended the schedule already issued for the election.
