There is a possibility of strong winds, thunderstorms, and rain accompanied by lightning in upper Punjab, Islamabad, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Gilgit-Baltistan, and Kashmir on Thursday and Friday, according to the Meteorological Department.
The upper Khyber Pakhtunkhwa may also witness heavy rainfall in some areas.
“On Friday, the majority of regions in the country will continue to experience warm and humid weather. However, Punjab, Islamabad, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Upper Punjab, Gilgit-Baltistan, and Kashmir are likely to have instances of strong winds, thunderstorms, and rain accompanied by lightning. Eastern Punjab, Pothohar region, and upper Khyber Pakhtunkhwa might also witness heavy rainfall in some areas,” the Met said.
Over the past 24 hours, the weather across various parts of the country remained intensely hot and humid. However, there were thunderstorms accompanied by lightning in some locations, including upper Punjab, Kashmir, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Gilgit-Baltistan, and Khuzdar.
Significant rainfall was recorded in several areas, with the highest recorded amounts as follows: Chakwal (25mm), Sialkot (25mm in the city and 1mm at the airport), Islamabad (4mm at the airport, 2mm in Bokra, 1mm in Golra, and trace amounts at Zero Point), Gujrat (2mm), Rawalpindi (1mm in Chaklala, Kacheri, and Shamsabad), Bhakkar (1mm), Kashmir: Rawalakot (18mm), Khyber Pakhtunkhwa: D.I. Khan (13mm in the city and 3mm at the airport), Kalams (2mm), Parachinar (1mm), Balochistan: Khuzdar (9mm), Gilgit-Baltistan: Skardu (5mm), Bagrote (4mm), and Bonji and Gupis (1mm).
On Tuesday record-breaking temperatures were recorded in certain areas, with Dalbandin, Nokkundi, Sibi reaching 44 degrees Celsius and Dadu hitting 42 degrees Celsius.
The Pakistan Meteorological Department has advised the public to stay updated about weather conditions and take necessary precautions during thunderstorms and heavy rainfall to ensure safety.
