Federal Investigation Agency arrested a highly wanted human smuggler in Faisalabad on Sunday, as a country wide crackdown in the wake of the Greece boat tragedy.
The arrest was made by FIA’s composite circle in Faisalabad. The accused, identified as Tahir Nadeem, had more than 30 cases filed against him and was also included in three different inquiries.
Nadeem was nominated in 14 complaints in the Agency’s Faislabad circle. He was also nominated in 16 cases in different police stations across the city.
He is accused of taking millions of Rupees from people across the city with promises of employment abroad in Europe, Canada and Japan. He was also involved in forgery and fraud cases.
The authorities also confiscated 25 Pakistani passports and numerous fake bank stamps from Nadeem’s posession. The FIA also found him carrying dozens of fake visas, cheque books and stamp papers.
He had been declared an a proclaimed offender in six cases in which challans had already been submitted in court. Another case has been filed against him after the raid.
However, authorities believe that the smuggler was not acting alone and raids are being carried out to arrrest accomplices.
