Interior Minister Rana Sanaullah has claimed that global Covid-19 aid was used to fund the Corona Relief ‘Tiger Force’, which was formed by former prime minister Imran Khan to help the the-then government in relief activities.
“Abusive brigade was formed in the name of Tiger Force, and Imran Khan was conspiring to occupy the country through force,” he told a press conference in Islamabad on Tuesday.
“The former PM had hatched a conspiracy to kill him, the JIT showed his videos to Khan, he admitted that this was his voice, but he didn’t have evidence to back his claims.”
“He had levelled such serious allegations? Khan replied that someone had told him,” he claimed, “then the PTI chairman was asked who told you. Khan replied I do not remember who told me.”
Sanaullah added that Khan did not say anywhere that it was not his audio or statement.
“He [Khan] confessed to giving a statement on hearsay, the JIT has his signed the statement, he is an expert in blaming without evidence, he misled the young generation with false statements, this brainstorming has been going on since 2014,” the interior minister said.
The May 9 arrest gave the PTI chief an excuse to implement its agenda, he claimed and alleged that a conspiracy was hatched to divide the Pakistan Army.
“Martyrs’ memorials were desecrated; they believed that the reaction of the people would be in their favour, the people stood with their patriotic forces, their baseless allegations had no legal status,” he added.
Sanaullah vowed that those involved on May 9 would be brought to justice, whether it is anti-national propaganda or misinformation. “The law will take its course, no innocent will be involved in it.”
