Peshawar High Court orders authorities to release Ali Muhammad Khan

The Peshawar High Court ordered the KP police on Wednesday (June 7) to release PTI leader Ali Muhammad Khan, who was arrested under section 3 of Maintenance of Public Order (MPO).

A two-member bench consisting of Justice Iijaz Anwar and Justice Syed Muhammad Attique Shah heard the PTI leader’s bail plea on Wednesday.

The court issued the release order of Khan and directed him to submit a surety bond of Rs100,000.

The petitioner’s lawyer Ali Zaman informed the court that the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa police arrested the PTI’s leader under the 3MPO after the Islamabad High Court ordered his release.

Justice Aijaz Anwar in his remarks said that those who hold a press conference after their release are free from all charges, while those who do not, are re-arrested.

How can such serious allegations get abolished with just one press conference, he asked.

The PTI leader was arrested from outside Adiala Jail on May 30 by the KP police under the 3MPO.

The court also accepted the pleas of some other people arrested under the same section.

Ali Mohammad Khan was among the PTI leaders and workers who were arrested under the 3MPO for involvement in the violent protests on May 9, after PTI chairman Imran Khan was arrested by the Rangers officials outside the court premises.
