Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf leader Maleeka Bokhari was rearrested immediately after her release from Adiala Jail on Wednesday.
Bokhari’s release had been ordered by the Islamabad High Court earlier in the day. She has now been shifted to an unknown location.
PTI leader Ali Muhammad Khan was also re-rrested right after being freed from District Jail Jhelum. He is in Punjab Police’s custody, but his whereabouts remain unknown.
PTI leader Shireen Mazari was also arrested from her house after being arrested and released twice. Her release had only been approved on Wednesday morning.
Police told Mazari’s daughter, Imaan, that the arrest had been made under Maintainance of Public Order.
The Islamabad High Court has revoked the detention of PTI leaders Ali Mohammad Khan and Maleeka Bukhari and ordered Islamabad Police to release them immediately.
Justice Miangul Hassan Aurangzeb of the IHC heard a petition filed against the detention of both PTI lawmakers.
The court revoked the detention, which was made under Section 3 of Maintenance of Public Order (3MPO).
The police had said that arrests were made under “threat of breach of peace” against those inciting arson and violent protests under the plan.
“Islamabad Police arrested Shah Mehmood Qureshi, Asad Umar, Fawad Chaudhry, Jamshed Iqbal Cheema, Falknaz Chitrali, Musrat Jamsheed Cheema, and Malika Bukhari,” it said in a tweet. “All arrests have been made in compliance with legal requirements.”
Moreover, a district and sessions court in Islamabad discharged PTI leaders Shireen Mazari and Falak Naz from the case.
They were presented before the judicial magistrate’s court on Wednesday.
The judicial magistrate rejected the police’s request for a three-day physical remand of the PTI leaders and discharged them from the cases.
The court also ordered police to submit details of the cases registered against Shireen Mazari and Senator Falak Naz.
