**A day after PTI Chairman Imran Khan’s arrest, party’s senior leaders Asad Umar and Fawad Chaudhry were been arrested in the federal capital of Islamabad. **
Asad Umar was arrested at the Islamabad High Court’s (IHC) premises at around noon, Aaj News reported. Fawad Chaudhry was arrested outside the Supreme Court after being inside the building since 11am.
Speaking to the media before offering arrest, Fawad said that Imran Khan and Asad Umar had been arrested from inside court premises and the sams was being done to him.
There are reports that a few more PTI leaders could be arrested.
News reports also claimed that PTI Vice Chairman Shah Mahmood Qureshi was reportedly arrested. However, the claims were denied by the party.
Fawad Chaudhry tweeted just before 6pm that the police had arrived to arrest him from the Supreme Court of Pakistan. He was at the top court for the hearing of a PTI petition against Khan’s arrest, said Fawad.
Islamabad Police arrested Asad Umar and left for an undisclosed location with anti-terrorism squad personnel accompanying the police.
When Umar was arrested Shah Mehmood Qureshi and lawyers Khawaja Haris and Babar Awan were also present in the court. Apparently, the decision to pick up Qureshi was made later.
Later, they both were reportedly moved to the Secretariat Police Station.
Umar and Qureshi are the third and fourth PTI leader leaders, respectively, arrested after Imran Khan was taken into custody by Rangers in the Al Qadir Trust case.
PTI Sindh president Ali Zaidi was arrested in Karachi, while former Punjab governor Omar Sarfraz Cheema was arrested from his Lahore residence.
Earlier, PTI Chairman Imran Khan was arrested from the IHC on Tuesday.
