PTI rejects reports of finalising candidates, kicks start election preparations

Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf on Saturday rejected reports claiming that the Imran Khan-led party has finalised candidates for upcoming elections in Punjab.

The rebuttal came from party spokesperson Musarrat Jamshed Cheema, who tweeted that the reports circulating in the media regarding the finalisation of candidates were not true.

“Party Chairman Imran Khan will make the announcement himself after finalising the candidates,” said Cheema, claiming that the party is currently discussing the matter before awarding any election ticket.

Earlier reports said that the PTI chairman had reportedly finailised candidates for Lahore and also decided that senior member Hammad Azhar will lead in Punjab.

PTI launches election campaign

Former Chief Minister Punjab and PTI leader Chaudhry Pervaiz Elahi in a tweet announced that PTI has launched its election campaign.

“It won’t be long beofre Imran Khan becomes Prime Minister again,” Elahi tweeted.

In another tweet, he wrote that Shehbaz Sharif-led regime has destroyed the economy and is blaming Imran Khan for that. They cannot escape the wrath of people.

Don’t know what Maryam Nawaz is trying to achieve by criticizing the Judiciary and state institutions, he said.

He asked party workers to start the preparations for elections as the date has been confirmed. “Elections are the only solution to solve the problems.”
