Police have arrested a key aide to former Punjab chief minister Pervaiz Elahi from Balochistan. Mohammad Khan Bhatti had fled from Punjab and was reported missing for the past several days.
Bhatti is said to be a key witness to the alleged corruption committed under the provincial PTI government which was first led by Usman Buzdar and then by Elahi.
Bhatti served as principal secretary to Elahi before being reappointed as secretary Punjab Assembly, a position he also held in the past.
The Punjab Anti Corruption Team Establishment (ACE) has formed a four-member team to transport him to Lahore from Quetta, Aaj News reported.
There were social media claims that law enforcement agencies (LEAs) picked up Bhatti from Sindh a few weeks ago and that he was being interrogated since then. He reportedly coughed up several names. However, the claims could not be corroborated by the officials.
On Tuesday, an ACE team raided the house of former MPA of the Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf and ex-adviser to the chief minister Sardar Abdul Hai Dasti and recovered over Rs150 million.
