Fawad still wary of ECP’s intentions

Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf leader Fawad Chaudhry said on Sunday that there is a ‘general perception’ that the Election Commission will not organise polls for the Punjab Assembly.

He made the statement in a tweet on sunday morning, adding that PTI’s movement for the ‘supremacy of constitution’ will begin soon.

He also added that the ECP should have called a meeting today (Sunday) to discuss how Lahore High Court’s decision will be implmented. The ECP meeting has been scheduled for Monday.

“Do not make a mockery out of the constitution and court judgements,” he wrote.

He also used the word ‘munshi’ for ECP officials again and said that it looked as if the commission would not go towards elections just as it had done in Islamabad.

A tirade against ECP officials has already landed him in jail once, after he was picked up from Lahore and brought to Islamabad in case of ‘threatening’ an ECP official.

Fawad also said that the constitution is the only unanmimously agreed upon document in the country and any harm to it would put the country at a serious risk.

The LHC had ruled on Friday that the ECP must decide a date for elections to the Punjab Assembly and make sure they are conducted within 90 days, as per the constitution.
