Pakistanis stranded in earthquake hit Gaziantep relocated to Adana

At least 19 Pakistanis have been relocated from the earthquake-hit Turkish city of Gaziantep to Adana, another city in Southern Turkiye, the Pakistan embassy in Turkey said on Wednesday.

Adana is around 250km east of Gaziantep, the worst-hit city in the 7.8 magnitude earthquake that struck Turkiye and Syria on Monday morning.

The jolts also caused destruction in Adana but the city is closer to the port and away from the earthquake epicenter.

The Pakistani embassy said in a statement that it was working for the repatriation of the Pakistani nationals. They will be sent on a flight as soon as possible, it said in a statement.

The embassy has also released emergency contact numbers.

Thousands of Pakistanis, including students, are living in Turkey and some of them were in the southern part of the country where widespread destruction was caused by the massive earthquake and aftershocks.
