Two policemen were martyred and three others injured in a terrorist attack on Jamrud Takhta Beg police check post in district Khyber on Thursday.

“Policemen were martyred by firing and grenade attack. The suicide bomber tried to enter the room, he was gunned down by the policeman and his jacket also exploded,” the police said in a statement.

Soon after the incident, the security forces reached the spot and started search operation. The Pakistan-Afghanistan highway has been closed for all kinds of traffic.

The injured cops were shifted to Hayatabad Medical Complex.

Meanwhile, Chief Minister Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Mahmood Khan also took the notice of attack and said the sacrifices of martyred personnel will not go in vain.

Terrorist attacks have ramped up in the country after the outlawed Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) ended the ceasefire agreement with the government and ordered its group members to stage nationwide attacks. It has portrayed the police as a “soft target” in its attacks. But, the police have continued to resist it.
