A policeman was marand another injured on Saturday when militants threw a grenade at a police mobile in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa’s Bannu district.
Local police said that the militants were on a motorcycle and they lobbed the grenade while driving by a police vehicle.
The attack took place in the jurisdiction of Township Police Station, and the victims were from the Domel Police Station and part of a police party conducting a raid.
Police added that reinforcements were sent to the scene of the attack while a search operation had been launched to apprehend the terrorists.
He added that the injured policeman was transferred to a hospital for treatment.
Bannu has been caught up in a spate of violence since the proscribed militant group Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) called off its tenuous ceasefire with the government of Pakistan in November last year.
It has resulted in several attacks, including at the Bannu CTD facility where militants overpowered their interrogators and held them hostage.
