A moderate earthquake jolted Islamabad, and several cities of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP), Punjab, Gilgit Baltistan, and Azad Jammu and Kashmir on Thursday evening.
Reports said that tremors were also felt in Charsadda, Peshawar, Batgaram, Khyber, Mansehra, Malakand, Swat and other areas of northern Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province.
Several cities of Punjab, AJK and GB, including Lahore, Chilas, and Ghizar also felt tremors.
The seismic centre said that the magnitude of the earthquake was recorded at 5.8 on the Richter scale and that the epicentre of the earthquake was the Hindu Kush region with a depth of 173 kilometres.
Tremors were not only felt in parts of Pakistan but were also felt in Afghanistan, Tajikistan, India, and Nepal.
A day earlier tremors were felt in various cities of Punjab including Lahore, Sheikhupura, Nankana Sahib, Sharqpur Sharif and surrounding areas.
According to the National Seismic Monitoring Centre of the Pakistan Meteorological Department, a magnitude 4.2 quake on the Richter scale was recorded in Punjab near the Pakistan-India border.
