The Islamabad Capital Territory (ICT) police announced on Friday the closure of Murree Road towards Rawalpindi for traffic prior to the imminent arrival of the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaaf (PTI)-led long march.
“Traffic will be closed from IJP Road / 9th Avenue Junction towards Rawalpindi,” the Islamabad police said in a statement shared on Twitter.

“In view of safety measures, the entry of public transport will be closed at this place. Security checking of residential hotels and flats in Faizabad will be carried out,” the added.
Earlier in the day, the Islamabad police released an alternative traffic plan, saying that the traffic on both sides of Murree Road has been diverted at Faizabad.
They said that the old airport road and stadium road could be used to access Rawalpindi from Islamabad.
Islamabad’s other routes are all accessible to traffic.
Earlier Rawalpindi administration granted conditional permission to the PTI to hold a sit-in near Faizabad.
According to a notification issued in this regard the former ruling party has to comply with 56 conditions set by the administration.
The Imran Khan-led party has been directed to use the prescribed routes for the rally, while the PTI chief has been barred from using sunroof car before and after the public gathering.
Every kind of public gathering in the federal capital, including those in and near the Red Zone, is now subject to Section 144. However, the permit to hold the rally is only given if the proposed routes are followed.
